Mr. S.J. (Sylvester) Römer studied law at the University of Amsterdam where he also obtained his Master's degree in Criminal Law.
Römer was sworn in as a lawyer in Amsterdam in 2015 and has been with Meijers Canatan Advocaten since 2019. He focuses exclusively on criminal cases and has extensive experience in drug cases, violence cases (including life crimes), organized crime and international criminal law (including extradition and surrender). In recent years, he has specialized in (large-scale) fraud cases, as well as EncroChat and Sky ECC cases (following investigations 26Argus and 26Lemont).
Some well-known criminal cases in which Römer acted are the alleged Romanian "robbery gang," the so-called fratricide case and the fatal robbery of Mien Graveland. Furthermore, he assists the main suspect in the 'mistaken murder' in the Wittenburg community center. He also assists suspects in the large-scale drug investigations 26Chesham and 26Warnow. He is also assisting suspects in the extensive Monte Titano and Arras fraud cases.
Mr. Römer has entered into a partnership with Meijers Canatan Advocaten LLP pursuant to Article 5.3 under b Voda. The engagement agreement is entered into with Meijers Canatan Advocaten LLP.

Sylvester Römer has registered the following areas of law in the Register of Jurisdictions of the Dutch Bar Association:
This registration obliges him to earn ten training points in each registered area of law each calendar year in accordance with the standards of the Dutch Bar Association.
