Gabriel Meijers (external consultant)
On 1 January 2019 Gabriel Meijers retired from the legal profession, but remains associated with our firm as an external advisor. He no longer handles cases himself, but assists the lawyers of our firm in word and deed.
Mr. G. (Gabriel) Meijers studied philosophy, Semitic languages and law at the Municipality of Amsterdam University. He was sworn in as a lawyer in 1986. He completed his internship at Moszkowicz advocaten in Amsterdam.
From 1989 to June 2008 he worked for Abma Schreurs Advocaten Notarissen in Amsterdam in the criminal law section (as a partner from 1993). From 1 June 2008 to 1 January 2019 he was a partner at Meijers Canatan Advocaten.
Mr. Meijers gained national fame through numerous well-known criminal cases, including those of the Enschede Fireworks Disaster, the Heerhugowaard Discomoord, the construction fraud and real estate fraud. He was regularly asked by fellow lawyers for advice or cooperation. On several occasions he was elected by his professional colleagues in the top 10 criminal lawyers of Peter R. de Vries.
