Mr. C.J.J. (Christian) Visser studied law at Maastricht University and the University of Westminster in London. He started his career at the Zuidas where he was sworn in as a lawyer in 2006. He made his debut in criminal law with Theo Hiddema.
In addition to being a criminal lawyer, he is an arbitrator at the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne (Switzerland).
Christian Visser has been a partner at Meijers Canatan Advocaten since 2015.
He specialises in international criminal law and football related matters. He frequently acts in international drug cases, major violent cases (including murder) and in financial-economic cases involving (large-scale) fraud and money laundering. He has specific knowledge of extradition and surrender procedures.
Christian Visser gained national fame as the soccer lawyer. He acts as counsel in almost all criminal cases relating to large-scale football riots in the Netherlands.
Also foreign supporters with Dutch business know where to find him. He assisted supporters of Schalke '04, Celtic, AC Milan AS Roma and Paok Saloniki and is a member of the Fan Lawyers Network of Football Supporters Europe.
He successfully completed the course in Criminal Law Specialisation at the Willem Pompe Institute and is therefore a member of the Dutch Association of Defence Counsel (NVSA).
Christian Visser gives an annual lecture on football violence at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. He is also regularly asked to give lectures on football related (criminal) matters.
Previously, he was chairman of the Dutch Association of Young Defence Counsel (NVJSA) and a lecturer in the Legal Training Programme for the Dutch Bar Association (NOVA).

Register of jurisdictions and supervision
Christian Visser has registered the following areas of law in the Register of Jurisdictions of the Dutch Bar Association:
This registration obliges him to earn ten training points in each registered area of law each calendar year in accordance with the standards of the Dutch Bar Association.
Since Mr. Visser works at the Amsterdam office, he is supervised by the Amsterdam Bar Association.
