Severe assault
Serious assault is when someone's act is intended to cause serious bodily harm to someone. Serious assault is punishable under Sections 302 and 303 of the Penal Code. The legal text can be found below:
Article 302
1. A person who intentionally inflicts grievous bodily harm on another person shall be liable to a term of imprisonment not exceeding eight years or a fifth category fine.
2. If the offence results in death, the guilty party shall be liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding ten years or to a fifth category fine.
Article 303
1. Serious and premeditated assault shall be punishable by imprisonment of up to 12 years or a fifth category fine.
2. If the offence results in death, the guilty party shall be liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 15 years or a fifth category fine.
2°. if the offence is committed against an official during or in connection with the lawful exercise of his ministry;
3°. if the offence is committed by administering substances harmful to life or health.
