Ms. W. (Wilke) Koopmans studied law at the University of Groningen. She holds master’s degrees in both Criminal Law and Criminology and Private Law. She was admitted to the bar in 2019 and has since focused exclusively on criminal cases.

She now has extensive experience in a wide range of cases, including (complex) violent crimes, such as homicide, drug offenses, property crimes, traffic offenses, and sex crimes. In addition, she specializes in representing juvenile defendants. In 2021, she won the regional moot court competition of the Young Bar Association of Northern Netherlands and placed second in the national moot court competition of the Young Bar Association in Utrecht. She has delivered several lectures and conducted moot court training sessions for students at the University of Groningen and Hanze University of Applied Sciences in Groningen. In 2025, she joined Meijers Canatan Advocaten to provide legal representation to her clients from the Groningen office.

Mr. Koopmans has entered into a partnership with Meijers Canatan Advocaten LLP pursuant to Article 5.3(b) of the Voda. The engagement agreement is entered into with Meijers Canatan Advocaten LLP.

General criminal law, including drug cases, homicide cases, sexand traffic offenses. In addition, she specializes in juvenile criminal law.

She is listed in the Dutch Bar Association’s register of legal practice areas under the following
primary (and secondary) practice areas:
– Criminal Law
– Juvenile Criminal Law

This registration requires her to earn ten continuing legal education credits each calendar year in each registered practice area, in accordance with the standards of the Netherlands Bar Association . Because Mr. Koopmans works at the Amsterdam office , he is subject to the supervision of the Groningen Bar Association
