Terrorism

Terrorism is committing a crime with a terrorist intent. In other words, with the intention of frightening the population of a country, or forcing a government or international organisation to do something, not to do something, or to tolerate something. Even if the crime is undertaken with the intention of seriously disrupting or destroying the economic, political or social structures of a country or international organisation, it is also a terrorist intent. If you or someone close to you is suspected of terrorism, it is important to call in an expert lawyer. The lawyers at our firm have a great deal of experience in handling criminal cases, including terrorism cases. Please contact us for assistance and advice.

The core provisions on terrorism can be found in Articles 83 and 83a of the Penal Code and in the Terrorist Crimes Act. The Terrorist Crimes Act states that the maximum prison sentences for crimes such as manslaughter, assault, hijacking or kidnapping are increased by fifty percent if committed with a terrorist intent.

Punishment for terrorism

Many people wonder what punishment someone can expect for terrorism, but that question can never be answered just like that. Punishment is tailor-made. In the case of a conviction, the judge looks at all kinds of factors, such as the circumstances under which the offence was committed, the person of the suspect, the maximum sentence and judgments in similar cases. The lawyers at our firm can make a realistic assessment of a possible penalty, even if it is ultimately up to the court to make the decision.
