On 1 July 2013, the Act of 13 December 2012 on the European Evidence Warrant for obtaining objects, documents and data for use in proceedings in criminal matters (OJEU L 350) of the Council of the European Union Framework Decision 2008/978/JHA will enter into force (Bulletin of Acts and Decrees 2013, 10).
The purpose of the European Evidence Warrant is to facilitate and accelerate cooperation between the Member States of the European Union in the field of obtaining and transmitting objects, documents or data which may constitute evidence in criminal proceedings. Where, in the course of a criminal investigation, evidence is found in another Member State, the cooperation of that other Member State is required in order to obtain the objects or data.
