Mr. M. (Mats) Groot studied Law at the University of Amsterdam, where he subsequently obtained his Master's degree in Criminal Law in 2016.

During his studies he did an internship at Spong Advocaten and after graduating he worked for four years as a court clerk at the district court in Amsterdam. There he handled several large(fraud) cases, giving him knowledge of the interests the court has in mind when deciding criminal cases.

He was sworn in as a lawyer in Amsterdam and has been with Meijers Canatan Advocaten since September 2024.

General criminal law, drug cases, violent cases (including life crimes), property crimes and fraud cases.

Because Mr. Groot works at the Amsterdam office, he falls under the supervision of the Amsterdam Bar Association.
